Day 70: reading for cultural elements

I taught my students how to Describe, Interpret, and Evaluate cultural elements of a children’s story today. Kudos to my colleague, Carmen, who helped me work out how to teach the concept of objective vs. subjective language. And kudos to my colleague, Mandy, who gave me several cultural story books to use and a summarizing strategy (each page students read, they recorded one word and then used those words to write a 1 or 2 sentence summary of the story.
