Day 45: polls and formative assessment


My husband and I listen to a physics education research podcast sometimes on our commute to work. The recent one we listened to inspired me to have students discuss in between polls using academic vocabulary in order to increase understanding. I set up a series of polls on to assess adjective noun agreement. After texting in the answers, I asked students to discuss answers using the terms: agree, noun, adjective, gender, masculine, feminine, singular, plural, and describe. There was increased understanding even on more complex problems as the polls went on.
